Cerro Chapeu Reserva
Tannat

Carefully selected Tannat grapes are hand-picked in Cerro Chapeu estate, where unique red sand soils, continental climate and diurnal temperature variation, give ideal conditions for this varietal. The fruit was vinified in our gravity-fed winery, with open tank macerations for 10 days and aging in second wine french oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, this wine is bottled with minimal handling and aged for one year before release.

Cerro Chapeu Reserva
Pinot noir

Pinot Noir grapes comes from our single vineyard in Cerro Chapeu estate. The fruit was hand-harvested and vinified in open tanks in our gravity-fed winery. Then it was aged for 6 months in French oak barrels and with mininal handling we obtained average 4.800 bottles per vintage of an unfiltered, fresh and complex red wine with one year of bottle before release.

Cerro Chapeu Reserva Chardonnay

Chardonnay mature grapes carefully selected and hand-harvest. Half of the wine is fermented with native yeasts in new French oak barrels for ten months in contact with the lies, that later it´s combined with straight from the tank wine. Then with minimal handling this wine is bottled to preserve its fresh and complex aromas.

Cerro Chapeu Reserva Sauvignon blanc “Sur Lie”

Sauvignon Blanc grapes are carefully selected and hand-harvest in Cerro Chapeu estate, where unique red sand soils, continental climate and diurnal temperature variation, give unique conditions for this varietal. The fruit is vinified in our gravity-fed winery. Fermented with native yeasts and left for six months in contact with the lies (Sur Lie). Then with minimal handling the wine is bottled to preserve its fresh and
complex aromas.

Batoví Tannat T1
Single Vineyard

Cerro Chapeu is located on the soil formation called Batovi dorado, red and deep sandy soils of low fertility, considered the oldest in South America.

Block T1 was identified years ago as the best Tannat of Cerro Chapeu. Ripe grapes of low production, harvested by hand. Vinified with the highest technology in our gravity-fed winery and bottling with minimal handling in Cerro Chapeu.

The result is a sensorially complex wine, a tannat with elegant and full-bodied tannins.

1752 Gran Tradición
Tannat – Cabernet Sauvignon – Cabernet franc

This blend is produced from the best vineyard blocks in Cerro Chapeu estate and the most concentrated grapes. Manual harvesting at optimum ripeness, with very low yields of less than 50 Hl per hectare results in great concentration varietal character. Grapes are vinified with “low input winemaking techniques” at our gravity-fed winery. Each variety is aged separately in French oak barrels for 12 months and then blended and bottled with minimal handling.

1752 Gran Tradición
Petit Manseng-Viognier

This white wine was developed during a R&D programme aim to “Increasing yeast biodiversity in wine fermentation for increase flavour complexity”. Exceptionally concentrated Petit Manseng and Viognier grapes from Melilla estate, maritime influenced by the River Plate and clay soils with calcarium influence. Vinified in Cerro Chapeu gravity-fed winery and fermented in French new oak barrels during 6 months. Then with minimal handling the wine is bottled to preserve its fresh and complex aromas.

Sust Vintage
Chardonnay-Pinot Noir

Since 1930, Juan Carrau winemaker of Villa Franca Penedes, was one of the pioneers in the development of craft sparkling wines by the “methode champenoise” in South America. Today Sust Vintage Brut Nature, was vinified with handpicked Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from Cerro Chapeu region. Whole bunches pressing with minimal handling and without any fining allow spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tank at 15°C. It is bottled early with selected native yeasts and the nutrients for the second fermentation. Aged for 36 months over the lees in our cellar at 12°C.

In 1680 Margarita Ysern, from a vine-growers family, got married with Jaime Carrau, from a fishermen family of Vilassar de Mar. This union was the beggining of our family winemaking tradition in Catalunya.

Ysern it´s a blend of Tannat grapes from two different regions. Cerro Chapeu with continental weather and sandy red soils, Montevideo influenced by the Atlantic Ocean with heavy clay soils and stones.

These wines were vinified separately and barrel aged in American oak during 9 months. This unique blend of such different regions represent how well adapted are Tannat grapes to Uruguayan weather conditions and soils for more than 130 years.
